Updated Release Candidates (2.96a) available

We’re coming down the home stretch and are releasing a second Release Candidate version of Jungle Disk 3.0 Desktop, Workgroup, and Server Editions. A number of issues that were found in the last release candidate have been fixed in this version. You can find a detailed list of changes in the Desktop & Workgroup Edition Release Notes, or the Server Edition Release Notes. We recommend all existing beta testers upgrade to the new Release Candidate release, and any of existing users who haven’t tried the beta but want to get an early look at 3.0 should try the new versions now!

You can download the new release candidate (2.96a) below:

We’ll also be turning on automatic updates for beta customers today (this will only offer the update to customers already running a beta/RC version).

If you experience any issues running the Release Candidate, please post to our Desktop/Workgroup beta forum or Server Edition beta forum.

Does this fix the Backup Cleanup FAILED issues and multiple Sync Conflicts?

Yes, the Backup Cleanup failed issues should be addressed. Several sync issues were fixed as well – if you’re still seeing problems please post an update to the beta forum.

    Hi

    Great news!
Will there be a new reseller edition, incorporating quotas?

    Thanks

    Dan.

There will be a new reseller edition post 3.0 release, however quotas are not in the current release.

Thanks Dave, do you have any details on the timescale for the reseller releases?

Now that the server edition is taking shape nicely & a reseller edition release is imminent, I will probably move most of my clients onto the server edition. Is there any process for migrating existing data from the current reseller edition to the new server edition. Also, can existing sub-accounts be used with the server edition or will new accounts need to be created.

A server edition specific FAQ that addresses these issues would be very useful.

Andrew – because the Server Edition backups are stored in a different format, you can’t migrate any of the existing data, it will need to be re-uploaded.
The Server Edition doesn’t support Subaccounts yet, but the reseller version of Server Edition which will be coming shortly after the release will.

    hi,

the latest RC broke links in Outlook 2007 and in desktop gadgets on running windows 7 RC. I had to use system restore to fix… I kept getting permission errors. Looking forward to a stable release…

How could that be? It shouldn’t be touching permissions or even writing to the disk in any unexpected areas.

it looked like it had a much deeper link into explorer as all the icons on my desktop received a sync icon in the bottom right corner… looks like the final version has been released now so I’ll give it another try…

This could be the bug: Windows * On Windows Vista when opening MS Office documents, the files may occationally open as “read-only” due to Windows Explorer trying to open the file at the same time as Office. Closing and re-opening the document should fix the issue. You can also avoid it by hiding the “Details” pane in Windows Explorer.
