This is a great idea. Personally, I use Jungle Disk with Amazon S3 as a global network share but I use BackBlaze.com ($50/year) for backup of my critical data. Adding sync made Jungle Disk even more valuable as a service/product. If Jungle Disk can combine backup (including external USB or Firewire drives) with ease of recovery ( files on a DVD or USB drive ) then I would be very excited.

Peter - there's no business reason we wouldn't let Desktop users use Simply Backup, it's primarily a support issue. One of the biggest support issues we've found is users buying one piece of software and using or trying to use one of our other products on accident. If we allowed Simply Backup to just work with the Desktop license we'd undoubtably end up with Desktop users who accidentally installed Simply Backup and can't find their network drive and other features.

Angus - no, we're not planning a reseller version of Simply Backup. There will be a reseller version of the Server Edition, and the normal Reseller Edition can be locked down in 3.0 to provide only backup (no network drive/sync) if you prefer.

Yohan - Simply Backup is designed for Desktops. You should use the Server Edition for server backups (it doesn't include the network drive fwiw).

Jungle Dave,

Will Simply Backup be able to install on sbs server 2003 & 2008 for those just wanting a backup for a local server?

Will the GUI be the same as current desktop edition but with the network drive option removed e.t.c? or is it something new?

I have no need of multiple online disks, and never used the network drive feature because of distance issues, so this may be more useful.

Will you be able to use both JungleDisk and SimplyBackup - one for work and one for home with different accounts... or alternatively just JungleDisk with two accounts.
