Files in motion? OK that makes sense but I dont think it’s obvious enough. Its still much better than the previous icon though, like Matt Jacob said it looks sweet on OSX.

@Bud – you can use from the Desktop 3.0 Vaults to the Server Edition without re-uploading your data, however I suspect Rex was talking about 2.x Desktop backups.

You mention that the new Server Edition uses a completely new format for data storage. I thought that the new desktop/workgroup client was using that same engine/technology?

The release notes for the desktop/workgroup client indicate the following:
An all new backup engine, built on the same technology we created for the Server Edition, and incorporating features such as compression, de-duplication, and large file support.

Is it not compatible between Server and Desktop/Workgroup if you are using Vaults?

Rex – the Server Edition uses a completely new format for storing the backup data to enable compression and de-duplication, so you would need to re-upload the data.

Hey JungleDave,

I have desktop edition running on Win2k3. Will the server edition recognize the settings and already uploaded files, or do I have to reupload the files?

I didn’t see this information listed, and I’m in the process of uploading files with JD Desktop newly installed on Win2k3. I’m interested in running the server edition soon.

I don’t exactly “get” the new logo, but it does look about 10x better sitting in my OS X menu bar! So much so that I let it stay there now, so job well done.
