Like Jim said, the new icon is really fugly!

Then my sync is stuck in a loop repeating the following errors:

Sync: Could not sync “C:\sync\Dev\js_sinus\sinus-4283b15e04a412ed985a10b49e7161fa.html”. It may be open in another program.

I seriously hope your not planning on going with the horrendous icon / image in this new beta. Those panels with the red panel on bottom look awful. I liked the patterned disk icon way better.

Good job JD, the new engine and features of the Desktop and Server betas have really impressed me, and most of the beta issues that bothered me are fixed in these updated versions.

I’ve been using the Desktop version for years, and the new engine performs much better. Also installed the Server edition on several servers, where I was using the Desktop version previously. The remote GUI is a good idea and the de-duplication and compression have reduced our backup volume enormously.

Wow, this is amazing.

Not having any issues that I have seen and love how well it is working.

I have been testing this with all sort of folders many I update often on work and home machine.

Everything works great until I tried to configure the new backup vault thing, everything work until when I tried to import a backup. after I finish making a change, the app will beachball for a minute (OSX 10.5.8) and then an error:

Jungle Disk Workgroup is unable to communicate with the service. Please ensure that the service is running.

xServiceTransport – Transport error during mgr.Recofigure

I finally figure out I only have to kill the “JungleDiskWorkgr” (user: root) process, and JD will reconnect everything.

But now I can not save any configuration changes any more (i.e. stuck with whatever setting I have for now).

What can I do now?

The sync system should work fine with big folders, but it will take a while to get everything up and in-sync. Unfortunately the icon support for Finder on OSX is not as good as what we do in Windows to show Sync status, due to changes they made in 10.6 that make it difficult or impossible to badge files properly.

On OS X 10.5 at least, the sync mechanism seems to have problems. It cannot sync properly an SVN tree (OK, some tens of thousands of small files can create issues), but also syncing a folder with a thousand or so pictures in it shows in the Activity Monitor as “5494 sec elapsed” and only part of the files are online (as far as I can see using the WebDAV mounted jungledisk folder in Finder). Overall buggy and I wouldn’t trust it much yet. Plus, we need to see at a glance which folders on the local disk are in the sync scheme and when a file is online – hopefully it is something you guys are considering. Further on, differential / delta versions of a file is something we still dream of…

On the good side, the new backup system seems to work perfectly.

V2.94a Desktop just freaked out and the JD Monitor began consuming 99% CPU on my XP SP3 notebook. Closing the monitor calmed it down. Posting more info to support and in the beta forum.
