Following up on last week’s release of the Jungle Disk Workgroup Edition, we’re pleased to announce the addition of support for Amazon S3 European buckets for Workgroup Edition users. European buckets allow your data to be stored in Amazon data centers throughout Europe, providing faster performance and regulatory compliance for European customers. Amazon prices their European storage slightly higher, at $0.18 per gigabyte. European customers have a choice of storing their data in Europe or the US.
No software upgrade is required. Workgroup Administrators can now create European buckets in the My Account web administration interface, and assign access to their existing users. Not signed up for the Workgroup Edition? It’s just $2 per month per user, and allows multiple users to securely share a single Amazon S3 account. Learn more and sign up on the Jungle Disk Workgroup Edition site.
Please note that the Jungle Disk Plus features, including upload resume and block-level updates, are not currently compatible with European buckets. The Amazon EC2 service we use to provide these features is not yet available in Europe. Once it is, we plan to offer the Jungle Disk Plus functionality in Europe as well.

After over a month of beta testing by thousands of users, we’re pleased to announce the official release of the Jungle Disk Workgroup Edition. The Workgroup Edition allows multiple users to securely share a single S3 account with private and shared network drives and built-in automatic backup. The workgroup administrator can receive daily reports on usage as well as backup status for all their users.
Pricing for the Workgroup Edition is simple - just $2 per user per month, plus the standard Amazon S3 storage at $0.15 per gigabyte. The price includes all the Jungle Disk Plus features and there is no up-front purchase required. The Workgroup Edition license allows each user to install the software on multiple machines at no additional charge, a significant savings compared to other workgroup backup services.
Read more about the Workgroup Edition and sign up on the main Jungle Disk site. You can also read the official press release for the Workgroup Edition launch on Yahoo business.
Note for current beta customers: The non-beta release of the software is version 2.10a, which was released last week. If you haven’t already upgraded, you can download the latest version on the Workgroup Edition download page.
