A minor update for Jungle Disk is now available for download. Jungle Disk 1.50c was released primarily to fix a timeout issue when resuming uploads for files over 1GB in size with Jungle Disk Plus, however a few other minor features / fixes were included as well. See the release notes for a full list of changes.
This will hopefully be the last minor update for the 1.50 release, and we’ll be starting on features for the next major release shortly. Stay tuned to the blog for more info on what’s coming next.

We’re releasing a minor update for Jungle Disk today to fix some issues users have encountered since the 1.50a release. We’ve also added a few more options to control the behavior of Jungle Disk Plus and the Previous Versions feature, and more will be coming in future releases. You can download the update from our downloads page. Although this is a minor update, we recommend all users upgrade. A full list of changes can be found in the release notes. The highlights are below:
- Multiple archived copies no longer created during retries
- Fixed issue affecting SSL connections over HTTP proxies
- Added new option to limit archiving of large files (default is 100MB)
- Added new option to limit fallback to direct upload from Jungle Disk Plus resume / update
- The Large TCP window feature is now an option that must be enabled in the Jungle Disk Plus settings
- OSX 10.4.3 or later is now required (10.3.9 still supported)
Some more details on the last two items:
One of the features we added with Jungle Disk Plus is the ability to use “large” TCP windows (up to 512kb) which was enabled by default in the 1.50a release. This feature allows users on very high bandwidth connections with low packet loss to get better upload rates. For users on typical cable/dsl connections it doesn’t provide an improvement and based on the reports we’ve seen since the 1.50a release can actually cause issues (the xSendCutoff errors in Jungle Disk Plus uploads). Because of this the feature is off by default, but can be turned on if you have a very fast connection.
We no longer support OSX 10.4.0 through 10.4.2 (we do still support 10.3.9 however). The version of OpenSSL that ships with those versions has an issue in the AES library that causes incompatibility with later versions (and the Windows/Linux versions). We never tested extensively on those versions because when the first Jungle Disk beta was released almost two years ago, 10.4.5 was already the current version. We don’t expect this change will affect many users. If by chance you have been running Jungle Disk on one of those old versions, there are some steps you’ll need to take to make sure any files you uploaded that were encrypted can be read by future versions. Please contact our support for more information.
